PCC Office move to Middlemoor confirmed

It was announced this week that the long debated move of the Police and Crime Commissioner's office to the Police HQ at Middlemoor Exeter at an undisclosed cost has been confirmed, and will take place very soon. The cost of moving is expected to be repaid within 4 years through the elimination of significant leasing charges for the present office space just half a mile away at Pyne's Hill.

My view is that to continue at Pyne's Hill would be wrong as the leasing costs are excessive and should be spent on front-line policing. But I would not have chosen this option. I would have worked hard with the Chief Constable to identify part of the police estate that could be occupied by my team with minimal refurbishment and relocation costs, preferably to a number of sites across the region that are more accessible than Middlemoor.

Whether there will be any options left open remains to be seen.
